Drug Store vs Department Store, budget friendly makeup options.

There are a few name brand makeup items that I swear by but on the other hand, there are also a handful of drug store brands that I find are just as good if not better than some of the fancy stuff at a fraction of the price. Here are a few of my favorite beauty items that you can find at your local CVS, RiteAid, Walgreens etc.

L’Oreal HiP Eyeshadow Duos

More than anything, I rely on eyeshadow more than any other makeup item. The two most important factors when purchasing an eyeshadow is that it is true to color when applied to the lid and that it is long lasting with minimal creasing. L’Oreal HiP eyeshadows fulfill both criteria the best out of ALL eyeshadows I have tried and trust me, I’ve tried ALOT! Basically what you see is what you get, the high pigment color does not fade when applied and it lasts the whole day with the same amount of intensity without reapplication. Just to prove how resilient it is, I even wear this to the gym and after a long sweaty workout, there’s still color on my lids!

Physician’s Formula Gel Liner

I’ve tried both drug store and department name brand eyeliners and I’ve found for the most accurate line, gel liner applied with an eyeliner brush is the best way to go over pencil/crayon. Other eyeliners smudge, melt, and smear over time but I’ve found that Physician’s Formula Gel Liner last all day long without fading even after a trip to the gym [notice a pattern here on how I judge my makeup ;) ]. Each eyeliner set [for brown, blue, green, hazel eyes] comes with three different colors that are meant to compliment natural eye color. The set also comes with a small eyeliner brush which is actually pretty good quality. I also use the brown pot to fill in my eyebrows which works just as well if not better than competing brow fillers.

Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Nail Color

If you’re like me and you can’t maintain a manicure for beans, getting a professional mani pedi seems like a waste since it will probably be ruined within 3 days or less. So, instead of spending the $30 or so on a professional manicure, I set aside an hour or so to attempt to paint my own nails in a manner that is still presentable to the world. I don’t know what it is, maybe its all the typing, but my nail color never lasts more than 3 days before it starts chipping. Out of all the nail colors I have tested, Sally Hansen’s Xtreme Wear Nail Color is one of the longest wearing nail colors out there. There’s a ton of colors to choose from in this line which is always great because you will always be up to date with color trends and also it’s just a tiny fraction of the price of designer nail color which means YOU CAN BUY MORE!

FINAL VERDICT:

Do I care that people know I use drug store makeup? Not at all! If it works, then why pay $$$ for competing products that can’t even compare in performance. These items are all budget conscious since they often go on sale at your local drug store. Test it out for yourself and if you disagree, you’re only out maybe $6-7 compared to $15-$20+
